How I Balance My Life

How I Balance My Life

Many of you may wonder how the heck I balance my life. With a toddler in the house, working as a barista, taking care of a home, doing direct sales, blogging, and freelance writing, I’m not entirely sure how I do it. I’m not always as calm and collected as it may seem, but I do try. Sometimes things get out of hand and I am overwhelmed with all the things I do, but there are a few things I do to help balance everything.

Let’s go back to the article I wrote about relaxation. I wasn’t kidding when I talked about taking time for myself. It’s how I keep myself sane with so much happening in my life. I think everyone needs a little “me” time. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to do anything. It’s not always daily, weekly, or even monthly, but I do try to have “me” time once in a while. Sometimes I take a lavender bubble bath, other times I diffuse my orange and write for fun, not work, or read a good book. My chai adventures are also a form of relaxation for me.

Organization is key in my life. I wouldn’t know where to be, or even who to be, without my planner. I have a daily planner, just a plain one from Target, that I write and look at multiple times a day. I write down my daily chores, work schedule, and writing goals. I also like to include a fun quote once in a while to make it a little less daunting. Pick out a cute one and make sure to keep it in a place you look several times throughout the day! There’s no right or wrong way to plan.

I’m not kidding. Sometimes I just cry. It helps a lot. No, I’m not depressed or anything, but sometimes it’s nice to let everything out. Not like everyday, not that that’s bad, but every few weeks. It cleanses my soul a little every time. It clears my mind and helps me focus on the tasks ahead of me.

sleep well

Without sleep, it’s hard to function. Sleeping might be the most important part of leading a busy life. Sometimes I feel like there’s no time for sleep, but I remind myself that if I don’t have enough good sleep, I won’t be functioning the best that I can, which is important for successfully doing the tasks I need to do on a daily basis. To ensure that I am sleeping to my best potential each night, I like to diffuse lavender and cedarwood, which knock me into a deep sleep in no time.

My life probably won’t always be this busy. I just remind myself why I do the things I do. I like having a clean home because it makes me feel good and I enjoy working because it helps provide an income for my family to eat and do fun things and I write to get myself out there and because I could go big in the the long run. Looking at the big picture helps me see that what I’m doing isn’t pointless and that it takes a little business to go far in life. I am young and I might as well do it while I still can.

While my life might be hectic, I love every second of it. You should be loving your life too, so if you’re not, take a look at what’s wrong and see which of these aspects could help you. Tell me in the comments how you make the best of your life!

Oola Challenge

Oola Challenge

A few days ago I heard of the new “Oola Challenge” being given to people around the world. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, but I love a good challenge, especially when it involves social media. I signed up for the challenge and on May 1st I got my first task via email.

What is Oola?

Oola is the balance in life. When you find balance in life, you will have Oola. A balanced life makes for a good life, a happy life. It’s unlocking the potential for the greatness that lives inside all of us. There are seven main points that Oola is based upon and finding balance in those things is the ultimate goal.

The Oola Challenge is a month long journey to work towards a balanced life. Each day, an email is sent out with a new task and once the task is done, you are encouraged to post about it on social media so that the challenge can be spread. Some of the tasks are hard. some of them are simple, but all of them will help you lean toward a healthier and happier life.

On May 1st, I got my first task. It was 5:07 am when I heard my email ping. I knew it was my first Oola task and I was both nervous and excited to see what was in store for me. I opened up my email and I dug right in. The first challenge of the month was “A Random Act of Oola”, or as some people know it, a random act of kindness.

Buy coffee for the guy behind you at the coffee stand, leave a note for a coworker, smile at someone passing by. There are so many little things you can do to spread a smile. A simple gesture can go a long way. The goal of this challenge was to let someone wear the smile you gave them.

This task was both challenging and fun for me. I thought it would be really easy, but it actually took a lot of courage for me to complete it.

One of my favorite customers at work is a younger man. He never says much and I just know his drink and that he doesn’t want to be bothered with me asking if he wants his usual. Today I decided I would make his drink the largest size possible because I know he hasn’t been doing so well. Half way through making it, he asked me to make it the largest size. He couldn’t see that I was already doing that, so I smiled and said, “of course”. I had already had it in my head that I would pay for his drink. I finished it up, handed it to him, and told him it was on me this time. The look on his face brought tears to my eyes in an instant. This man, who I know is struggling with something no human should have to struggle with, gave me the biggest smile I have ever seen. My whole day was made with a simple action, and I could tell that his was too.

It doesn’t take much to make someone’s day a little better and I encourage you to go out and do something for someone today. It doesn’t have to cost money or take much time, just do something.

Young Living worked together with the Oola team and now has an amazing line out right now called “Infused 7”, based off of the 7 parts of Oola: Fitness, Family, Fun, Finance, Field, Faith, and Friends. They are seven perfectly blended oils to transform and improve your life and to help you find that balance. These oils will help you move toward the ultimate goal in life: Oola.

I am currently waiting on three of the Oola inspired oils: Friends, Family, and Field. I am so excited to try them out and share my experience with you guys! I have also recently started reading the Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World”. I won the book as part of a team contest within my oil group and didn’t think I would like it. I was sooo wrong. I am in love with this book. I thought it would be some self help book with all the “quick” and “easy” ways to “fix” my life, but this book goes deeper than that. It talks about real issues in life and that it takes all time and effort to have a balanced life and the life you want. I completely recommend it.
