As you all know, or at least should know, Mother’s Day is coming up pretty fast. It’s THIS Sunday! May 10th will be here before we know it. Do you have your gift for Mom picked out? If not, check out how easy it is to make one just for her. In my opinion, homemade gifts are always the best. They come from the heart and mean so much to mothers. Here’s a few simple ideas to whip up for that special woman in your life to show her how much you love and care about her.
Scrubs are so fast and easy! Simply mix 6 drops of your favorite essential oil(s) with 1 cup of coconut oil and 1/2 cups of sugar in a blender or food processor. Raw sugar is best for scrubs but if you are using normal kitchen sugar with smaller grains, do about a 1/2 cup more sugar. Plus, check out how my frankincense and rose petal scrub faded my year old stretch marks in just four days! Mom will love that. Just remember, you were the one who gave her those marks 🙂
Great oils for scrubs include: lime, lemon, orange, citrus fresh, frankincense, peppermint, eucalyptus, bergamot, ylang ylang, lavender, and many more. Lemon and eucalyptus make a great combo, as well as stress away and orange. Yummy smells to warm mom’s heart.
Mom works so hard! Give her some time to relax with a calming bath. Add 8-10 drops of lavender or stress away to a half cup of Epsom salt and mix away. Store it in a glass jar and use about 1/4 cup in bath water. Other calming oils that would be wonderful for bath salts include bergamot, peace and calming, and cedarwood.
This is a fun one for Mom to carry around in her purse and the oil combinations are endless. For a 15 stick batch, simply melt 5 tablespoons of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of beeswax. Once that is melted, stir in 10 drops of your oil of choice. I love peppermint and cocoa powder. Lemon and peppermint is a great one too, along with orange and stress away and tangerine and vanilla. Like I said, the combinations are endless. Have a ball! These tubes only cost about $0.50 a piece. Not bad for something so natural.
Probably the easiest of these recipes is the solid perfume. Mix two tablespoons of coconut oil with 4-5 drops of essential oil. I like to melt my coconut oil in the microwave so I can mix it easier and then pop it in the fridge to let it harden for a few hours. Great perfume oils include joy, purification, and stress away.
I am sure that your mom will love what ever it is that you make her. To make it even more special, set aside a day and make it together. Experience gifts can be amazing! Let us know what you made and how it went in the comments below. Include a picture if you’re feeling really wild!
