Focus & Field

Focus & Field

june

It’s the end of the month! Do you know what that means in direct sales? Utter chaos. There’s numbers to be run, last minute sales to put out there, goals to be made, and so much more. I love the end of the month because it’s so close to a new and fresh month, but it can be really stressful and hard to concentrate on one thing at a time. With so many things to do, I often have issues completing one task before starting another.

Field

I talked about the Infused 7 oils a week and a half or so ago. I mentioned that I love them and what not, but today I want to go into a little more depth about the “Field” oil blend. It really helped me today so I want to share that experience with my lovely readers!

As I mentioned, the end of the month is super crazy for direct sales, or any type of sales for that matter. Along with the craziness of that all, I have also been working at my other job, on top of writing, on top of my grandmother being in the hospital as her days grow short. It’s been a really tough couple weeks with losing my friend and now closing in on losing my grandmother. I am barely holding myself together and burying myself in my work seems to be helping.

writing escape

Today I decided to write a piece on Zerys.com. I haven’t been assigned anything for a little while, so I decided to take one of the “open writer board” options and chose to write a piece about business card size. Exciting, right? I thought it would help take my mind off of things, but when I sat down to write, I just couldn’t do it. My mind that had racing all weekend just stopped. I noticed my “Field” oil blend sitting on my desk and placed a drop on my wrist and smoothed it in. Normally I would diffuse it, but that would mean having to get up and get my diffuser, and we all know that would have just caused too much stress 🙂 To be fair, I am dealing with way too much, but anyway, back to this.

After applying it to my wrist and sniffing it like the weirdo I am, I sat for a while and soon ideas started flowing to me. I knew exactly what to write. I knew what to cover, what to expand on, and thus a beautifully written masterpiece was created. Well, as beautiful as a piece on business card size can be. ***Side note: don’t do the “wrist sniff” in public. People will look at you like you’re crazy***

wrist sniffing

I love the “Field” oil blend because it helps me concentrate on the work I set out for myself. It helps me to focus on one thing at a time and helps me think about the big picture, even in the midst of chaos. It smells nice and refreshing and helps boost not only my confidence in my work, but in myself as well.

Other great oils for concentration include Clarity, peppermint (Dr. Williams Dember found a 28% concentration rate increase with the use of peppermint), Brain Power, rosemary, and lemon. I like to think of peppermint and lemon as my super blend when I’m not using “Field”.

concentration

If you have work that needs to be done as this crazy month comes to an end, lean on essential oils to give you that extra boost of energy and concentration!

Sunburn Relief

Sunburn Relief

summer

Summer is coming up on us at full speed this year. Even here in Washington, we’ve had a few really nice days. As we do our outside activities and life gets busy, we sometimes forget to apply sunblock. While the activities that lead to burns may be fun, the hot, sticky, and painful feeling that they bring is never welcomed. Aloe is a great way to help relieve those symptoms, but adding essential oils can give it a super boost.

My first piece of advise would be to use sunblock to prevent burns, but for those occasional and busy times that we forget, I suggest trying a mixture of lavender essential oils, aloe vera, and water to help soothe your skin. Aloe has great healing properties, but lavender can add that extra boost.

sunburn spray

I have four ounce spray bottles and aloe gel, so here is the mixture that we use for those painful burns: two ounces aloe gel, two ounces water, and 20 drops of lavender essential oil. If you have liquid aloe, you don’t have to use water as a mixer. 10 drops of rose essential oil is a great addition to this mixture, but it can be rather expensive. Shake up the ingredients and spray onto burns a few times daily or when needed. Lavender is great for skin and is also super relaxing. It is important to let your body rest after getting a burn, so it’s great that the lavender not only helps soothe burns, it also helps with relaxation and rest.

Tell us in the comments below how you got your sunburn and for bonus points, make a promise that you won’t do it again!

Also, don’t forget that the May contest is on the brink of being over!

Shoot Down Sugar Cravings

Shoot Down Sugar Cravings

america

America is becoming overcome by sugary and fatty foods and drinks for cheap prices. Our children are becoming diabetic at early ages and according to gallup.com, 27.7% of adults are obese, and many more people are on the path to increasing those numbers. What’s going on? Our food industries are pushing out addictive foods so that we come back to our favorite foods and they continue to make money.

I am going to share a personal story with you guys that I haven’t really shared with the public before. Some of you will be disgusted while some of you will be able to relate.

memories

As a child, I would visit my grandparents a lot. With divorced parents and my dad working long and hard hours with a super long drive back home, my grandparents played a huge roll in raising me. During the time that I was growing up, the knowledge that we have today about food wasn’t really around. I was often pumped full of sugary and fatty foods. I have memories of eating bowls of whipped cream at one grandparent’s house. It was that bad. I never had any weight issues, but as I grew, my addiction to sugar grew too.

addicition

I was often sick to my stomach but I always seemed to be eating some sort of candy, cake, etc. It made me happy, for a little while at least. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my daughter that I started to think of what I was doing to my body. I stopped the sugary food eating as much as I could during my pregnancy, but after I had her, I found myself starting to slip. With my marriage slipping from my fingers and my whole life spiraling out of control, it was easy to sit with a carton of ice cream or a box of donuts and sulk in my pajamas. I didn’t really talk to anyone about it and everyone thought I was ok. I was young, I had just finished high school and my associates degree, and I was already getting a divorce. I wasn’t ok, but instead of talking, I ate. Food doesn’t judge. Food doesn’t care if you made a stupid mistake, food doesn’t care if you got married for all the wrong reasons, food doesn’t care if you let yourself be treated terribly, food just doesn’t care. I had all the support in the world, but I didn’t want to disappoint people.

monsters

Soon, I met my amazing boyfriend. I am not sure how I got so lucky, but we became a family and he took in my daughter and I with no questions asked. We have since created a beautiful home and are doing well. He works out all the time and tries to make sure that only healthy food enters our house. Because I have so many years of bad habits in my past, I still struggle. Someone had given me a cake mix and I stuck it in our cabinet. A few weeks later, I found myself whipping up the batter and within a few hours, I had eaten the whole mix. It didn’t even get to the point of baking.

Then, a few days ago I lost a friend in a tragic accident. I cried for about six hours straight and sent my boyfriend to go get me ice cream. The container was gone in two days. Two! I kept getting my problem under control and and then letting it sweep me under again and again.

change

It was at that point that I decided I needed to make a change for good. I sat myself down and made a list of healthy options for when I had cravings or felt sad. I scoured Pinterest for hours. I never gained weight due to my addiction, but I know that weight isn’t all that has to do with healthiness. I refuse to allow myself to get diabetes. I will NOT be overweight later in life. I refuse to do that to myself.

help

I have been doing well with my journey so far, but it hasn’t been without help. Essential oils have helped me so much these last few days. Earlier this month I placed an oils order and along with it came two free oils: grapefruit and ocotea. Many of my team members use them and I was a little weary due to the fact that I am still breastfeeding. I decided to just use ocotea and to limit my use to once or twice a day, but it has helped me so much! When I feel a sugary craving coming on, I add a drop to my water or under my tongue. Others place a few drops in a gelatin capsule and take it with water. Ocotea is the main ingredient in Young Living’s Slique, which has also helped many people ward away cravings and lose extra weight, but I have yet to try that (hopefully soon!).

weight loss

I am excited to see where this journey takes me and I refuse to fail. With the help of ocotea, I know that I will be able to tell myself “no” when I want to eat a half gallon of ice cream, or bury my sorrows in cake batter.

Are you ready to start your journey? Try ocotea with me!

Other great oils to help in your journey include lemon, grapefruit, and peppermint, which help fight cravings and break down fat.

Clearing Stuffy Noses

Clearing Stuffy Noses

memorial day

This weekend was a little bit crazy between working and holiday activities. First off, I would like to thank all veterans, current military members, and their families for being so strong and fighting for our country. It takes so much to sacrifice for people you don’t even know, and for that I am ever so grateful. Without you all, I would not be able to be writing and publishing this blog post now.

freedom

I woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and that is always scary to me. Stuffy noses generally lead to full blown terrible colds for me that leave me wanting to do nothing but sleep, which we all know is impossible with a little one to care for. I’ve mentioned this a few times before, but mommies don’t get sick days.

sick

I, of course, use my thieves to help kill off the nasty germs in my house, but this weekend was so busy that I actually didn’t. With all of the people I came in contact with, that was a bad idea. Between work, the zoo, and family events, I should have known I would get something!

To help rid of my stuffy nose, I chose RC and eucalyptus. RC is great for helping open up your lungs and promotes easier breathing and eucalyptus helps clear stuffed passages. I put five drops of RC in my diffuser, along with three drops of the eucalyptus and set off to cleaning up the dishes from breakfast. Excuse my graphic-ness, but within a few minutes, my passages started clearing themselves. It was gross for a little bit, but after a sort while, I was able to breathe like nothing had ever happened.

stuffy noses

I learned this weekend that no matter how busy I am, it’s in my best interest to use my thieves to help ward off germs, but if by chance that I don’t do that, RC and eucalyptus will help save the day!

Do you have a stuffy nose and feel a cold coming on? Don’t hesitate, nip it in the butt as quickly as possible.

Infused 7, Oola & Young Living Work Together to Make Inspiring Oils

Infused 7, Oola & Young Living Work Together to Make Inspiring Oils

infused 7

I promised you guys a post on my new Infused 7 oils and here it is! As you know, in a little team contest I won three of the seven oils inspired by #Oola. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from oils titled “Friends”,  “Field, “Family”, “Fun”, “Finance”, “Faith, and “Fitness”, so I was excited to get them in and see what they could do.

20150521_111809

I received “Friends, “Family”, and “Field” from the contest. The first thing I did was open them up and smell them and um, yum. I was blown away by how great they smell. My favorite would have to be “Friends”. It has a nice, light, citrus-y aroma that warmed my heart and calmed my mind. I have actually started wearing it as a perfume on my wrist.

I have noticed that when diffusing “Field” while writing I seem to do a better job. I am not sure if it’s because it helps me focus on the content or if it’s because it has such an inspiring citrus aroma. If you’ve noticed, my last few posts have mentioned citrus oils a time or two 😉

20150520_145311

I was having some trouble with a co-worker so I decided to wear “Friends” on my wrist to work a week or so ago. The atmosphere was still a little hostile, but I felt much more calm. I was really anxious that morning as I was getting ready, fearing what the day would bring, but after putting this on I felt like I had control of the situation. Whether it’s mind over matter, I am not sure, but I will take it either way!

20150521_112643

I have found that “Family” is a great oil to diffuse during dinner time. It smells wonderful and compliments any dinner. Lemon chicken is probably my favorite dinner to diffuse it during. And speaking of lemon chicken, I will have to do post on that soon.

Kick Cramps to the Curb!

Kick Cramps to the Curb!

kickcramps

This weekend was a little crazy for our family. I had my online essential oils class going on, as well as work, family events, etc. My poor boyfriend topped off his 70 hour week yesterday online to head back today. No break for him or I this weekend! While it was busy, it was also fun so I can’t complain too much.

Last night, however, I had the worst stomach cramps. I don’t know if it was a lady thing or something I ate or what, but it was to the point where I almost passed out while standing up. Not fun. Justin, my lovely boyfriend, suggested that I try rubbing PanAway onto my stomach. Why I didn’t think of it first, I don’t know, but we gave it a shot. I dropped a few drops on my tummy and rubbed it in and placed a warm compress over top. Within minutes my cramp intensity lowered by over three quarters and in 10 minutes, they were gone and replaced by a warm, yet cooling sensation brought on by the wintergreen that helps make up the PanAway oil blend.

panaway

I was able to sleep soundly the rest of the evening and woke up feeling great!

PanAway is also great for helping with arthritis, muscle and joint pains, as well as headaches.

If you haven’t already, check out the contest I have going on for the month of May!

Thieves Cleaner

Thieves Cleaner

Thieves Cleaner

So, I have found another one of my life’s great loves: Thieves Cleaner. I read so much about it and how it cleaned other people’s carpets, windows, bathrooms, etc. As I am with everything I try, I was a teeny bit skeptical. You would think by now I would stop being a skeptic with these oils and products because I am blown away every time, but I can’t help it. I have yet to find a product that I have purchased from Young Living that has not completely shocked me with how much it has helped my family. I love everything Young Living.

thieves cleaner

Anyway. I love this cleaner for a trillion reasons. The main reason I love it is because not only is it all natural and not chemical filled, it is safe around kids and pets. I don’t know about you, but my child has to be practically on top of me while I am cleaning and there is no way I can get it all done during nap time. She loves to help and I don’t want to discourage that so I need a cleaner that is safe around kids. This is the only cleaner that I’ve found that actually does a good job that is safe to use around my daughter. Plus, it doesn’t stink. It actually smells really good. Have you ever found a cleaner that smells good? Probably not. This is your new best friend, I promise.

ratios

I also love this cleaner because it is multipurpose. You simply mix it with water in different ratios (shown in the picture) to clean anything from windows and mirrors to carpets, floors, bathrooms, kitchen spills, clothes, etc. One cleaner can do all that! Super cool, in my opinion.

strawberry stain

I have a one year old who is a super messy eater. Her clothes are ALWAYS getting stained. I use this cleaner to remove the stain in no time. She also loves to throw food on the floor. Have you ever tried cleaning strawberry juice out of your carpet? It can be a pain, but Thieves Cleaner makes it easy. We use it for our counters to wipe away germs, we use it to clean our toilets, showers, and other bathroom surfaces, we add it to our dish water, our laundry, EVERYTHING!

And the other main reason I love this cleaner is because it’s CHEAP. So cheap. How much does a normal bathroom cleaner cost? $3-4 a bottle, maybe more? Thieves cleaner costs $0.30-1.00 per 24 oz bottle on average. That’s amazing!

Why wouldn’t you use this cleaner? It’s all natural, safe around kids and pets, really cheap, and works on almost every surface. I can’t see a reason not to have this in every household!

Remember to check out the contest we have going on now through the end of May!
