As we all know, summer is almost here and with summer comes busier schedules. I don’t know what it is about those three months that seems to test our limits on what we can cram into them, but it always seems to happen. I wish I was still in high school when summer meant a break from homework and the responsibilities of the world, but unfortunately I kissed those years behind a while ago.
My summer started early this year. I am working more days, doing multiple events, plus taking care of a house, cooking dinner every night, raising a teething baby, etc. My life is so hectic right now that it isn’t even funny. It’s 3:30 in the afternoon and all I have had time to eat today has been a banana. We’ve all been there, right? Anyway, I want to give you all a task, just one more thing to add to your growing list of things to do.
Take a break.
Yes, that’s it. In the craziness of life, we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. We forget to make time just for us. I know it’s hard to find time to do that, but it is so important. Set aside a half hour just for you. Put the kids to bed, give your significant other a task to do, forget work or school or whatever else you are doing and just have some “me” time.
Gather up a book, your diffuser, and lavender essential oil and sit in a quiet room, taking in the calming aroma. Fill up your tub with bubble bath and six drops of Stress Away and melt into the warm water. Add a drop or two of Roman Chamomile to your tea and sit on the couch and watch your favorite episode of Gilmore Girls. Mix a drop of PanAway with a layer of coconut oil and massage it into the sore areas on your body. Diffuse four drops of cedarwood and lavender and take a nap. Do whatever it is that you do to relax, whatever makes you feel best.
Did you make time for yourself today? This week? This month? How do you relax?
