DIY Rose Scrub

DIY Rose Scrub

scrubs

There are days when I feel like I have to make something, and dinner just isn’t enough. Yesterday was one of those days. I went on a little bit of a “making” spree and decided I would make a rose scrub since I had some dying roses that my boyfriend had bought me the week before. He’s adorable. Anyway, I stalked Pinterest until I found a recipe I liked best and added my own little twist and came out with some awesome results!

I am terrible with the whole measuring thing. I kinda just eye ball it and pour. My boyfriend will tell you that that isn’t always the best way to make things and that sometimes my dinners and projects come out a little wonky, but yesterday it worked out pretty well.

First, I scooped out a cup worth of solid coconut oil and placed it in a blender. I recommend organic 100% coconut oil because it is going on your skin. I also added what looked like a half of a cup of sugar. Bigger grained sugar is better, but I only had regular sugar, and that ended up working pretty well.  I took off the petals of one rose (about 15) and threw that in too. To top it off, I added 6 drops of frankincense. You can use any oil you like, but I chose frankincense because of its wrinkle and blemish fighting powers. Tea tree or purification would be great substances. I blended it on high for a minute or so, scraped down the edges, and blended it again. I did this a few times until there were no more chunks of rose petal.

The result was a smooth and lovely scented paste. I scooped it into a glass jar and set off to use it. I applied it in the shower, all over my body and face. My skin felt so soft! I used it as a shaving agent instead of shaving cream and soap too and it was SO much better. I feel like I got a much cleaner and closer shave, plus my skin was amazingly soft. When I woke up this morning, my skin was STILL soft. This scrub is so wonderful and luscious!

Update! Check out what it did to my stretch marks in just four days- here.

My next scrub making adventure will include a vanilla and orange combo, and then who knows what after that! Stay tuned for my next scrubby adventure.

    1. Becca, it is so amazing! My skin feels so smooth and I still don’t have prickles after shaving with it. I definitely recommend it. I’m kind of on a scrub making spree. The next one I want to try is a coffee, coconut oil, and sugar scrub with vanilla.
